Things to Remember When Riding MetroLink:

  1. Remember to show up a few minutes early to the correct MetroLink station or MetroBus stop.

  2. Before you are allowed on the MetroLink station platform you must have proof of payment. Proof of Payment are Metro Passes, Transfers, and validated 10 Ride (10 ride tickets include a transfer) or MetroLink Tickets. You can purchase a ticket at Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) located at each station. Directions for purchasing a ticket are clearly marked on each machine. Single tickets sold from the TVM are prevalided. If your ticket is not prevalidated you can do so at one of the Red validating machines located at entrance to the platform. (Instructions at bottom of page)

  3. Before getting on MetroLink or MetroBus, always make sure to check the sign at the front of the vehicle. On MetroLink, the sign tells you the train's final destination (i.e. College, Lambert Airport, Grand, Union Station, Emerson Park, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Washington Park). On MetroBus, the sign tells you the bus route number and name (i.e. #9 Washington Park or #12 O’Fallon-Fairview Heights).

  4. When you board MetroBus, place your fare in the fare box, transit passes are scanned through the fare box. All tickets and transfers must be given to the operator for inspection. If you qualify for a reduced fare for age or disability you need proper identification (Metro picture ID of Medicare ID).

  5. You may use transit passes on both MetroBus and MetroLink. Fare inspectors ride MetroLink and will ask for proof of payment. Failure to provide proof of payment can result in a court appearance and or a fine.

  6. After boarding, take your seat and watch for your station or stop. Remember that smoking, radios without earphones, eating, drinking and littering are prohibited on both MetroLink and MetroBus.

  7. On MetroLink, the driver announces the station as the train arrives. When your MetroBus stop is about a block away, pull the cord above the window to signal the driver. The bus will stop at the next stop and you may exit through either the front or rear door.

  8. Schedules available at city halls, liberties, township buildings.

  2. After selecting your ticket(s), the display screen on the TVM will prompt you to insert your money.
